A multinational company providing automation and production solutions seeks a new General Manager & Project Director for its Hungarian firm.

The General Manager is accountable for the growth, development and utilization of the workforce and facilities to provide capability needed to achieve sustainable growth. He/she will work with the management team and plant personnel to deliver the company vision and the company culture on time and on budget.

 Responsibilities:

  • Ensures projects are proceeding on plan, while overseeing proper escalation and resolution of all internal open issues that threaten quality, cost, or schedule
  • Follows and enforces strict adherence to company’s Project Operating Policy and critical Project Controls procedures in respect of budget authorization, schedule milestone management, and scope control.
  • Prioritizes project resourcing in accordance to technical and schedule needs
  • Assists in resolution supply chain related issues as required, through direct engagement with vendor management in consultation with Director, Global Supply Chain.
  • In collaboration with the Global Director, Engineering Oversight and local engineering department managers, ensures design activities are performed in accordance to procedure and project specification. Utilizes engineering standards to improve machine quality and cost
  • Develops technical bench strength through skills assessment / development and cross training
  • Monitors overall performance of business in accordance to annual business plan, including financial results, operational metrics and assigned strategic objectives
  • Implements corrective action for any adverse trends or objectives at risk
  • Making strategic decisions and providing leadership and direction to line managers to implement those decisions
  • Meeting with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress
  • Liaising with clients and building strong working relationships
  • Devising cost-effective plans to enable effective project completion
  • Managing risks to avoid delays or reputational damage
  • Ensuring permits and legal papers are secured ahead of the project
  • Managing line managers and enabling them to supervise and manage their own teams

  • Works with customers to proactively resolve issues and manage expectations, leading to high customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Promotes positive relations between departments and with partners, customers, vendors, and distributors
  • Recommends and administers policies and procedures to enhance operations which support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Enforces policies throughout the department including Human Resources, Safety and Environmental
  • Continuously resources new innovative solutions for corporate competitiveness
  • Ensures concepts meet the company automation quality, safety and reliability standards
  • Promotes Personal Development and Safe work practices, working environment and improve department operations
  • Maintains good corporate citizen role in support of the corporate vision and confidentiality ensuring that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the company conduct code
  • Fosters the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business
  • Builds strong and highly collaborative relationships with other divisions in Europe and throughout the Global Eclipse organization

Education and experience:

  • Degree or diploma in engineering/automation technology
  • MBA is an asset
  • Good command of English is a must
  • 5+ years in a General Management capacity in a custom automation or similar facility
  • Direct experience in automation system design, build or project management
  • Demonstrated experience with and understanding of project management best practices, including tools for budget, schedule, issue management as well as key performance metrics
  • Proven experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams (100+)
  • Having exposure to multiple sectors (e.g., automotive, life sciences, nuclear, consumer electronics, industrials, mining, alternative energy)
  • Experience working in a multinational company
